Sustainable Living Innovations | 303 Battery: Digital First Sustainable Design & Infrastructure
The IBcon Smart Building Best Practice Showcase is an annual event held at the Realcomm | IBcon conference where real estate leaders present their most innovative, technology driven commercial and corporate real estate projects. These projects demonstrate leading-edge technologies and vision for intelligent and adaptive design that is transforming the next generation of IT-enabled real estate. The Weekly News Briefing will feature a unique Showcase project each week.
303 Battery is the world’s first net-zero energy high-rise apartment building and the greenest apartment building in Seattle. Developer Sustainable Living Innovations (SLI) created a panelized system where major building parts are manufactured offsite, saving money and resources. Each panel has a function and purpose and is mass produced to reduce cost. The prefabricated and modular construction system allows for a completely smart tech-enabled building that can be made primarily in a factory where changes in the weather never slow down construction progress. Additionally, the power and data network represents multiple systems being converged on a minimalist fiber optic and low-voltage platform. SLI’s mission is to democratize the construction process, where owners, developers and other industry participants can use their platform to digitally develop, design, manufacture and assemble sustainable buildings.
