Diverse Brains, Better Gains: Shaping Spaces for Cognitive Variety
Date: 6/3/2025    Time: 3:15 pm - 4:00 pm    Location: 112
Neurodiverse-inclusive workplace design is increasingly recognized as a driver of innovation, productivity, and employee well-being. Thoughtfully designed environments that consider sensory processing differences – such as lighting, acoustics, spatial configurations, and technology integration – can enhance focus, collaboration, and overall cognitive performance. This session will explore best practices for creating adaptable workspaces that support a range of neurological needs, from quiet concentration areas to dynamic, interactive zones. Steven Burgos, Director of Design, Interiors for HOK’s Miami Studio, will share insights from a recent research project on the impact of inclusive design on employee engagement, retention, and creativity, along with strategies for implementing scalable neurofriendly modifications that align with organizational culture and business objectives.
