INCLUDED SESSIONS ARE:

Slow and Steady – AI and the Impact on Real Estate
Date: 6/13/2019    Time: 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm    Location: Nashville Music City Center
Artificial Intelligence made its way into public consciousness when Google’s AlphaGo AI group beat Lee Sedol, the Korean Go champion, in March of 2016. While AI had been in the works for a number of years, it was this battle between machine and human in one of the world’s most complex board games that brought attention to the potential of AI. Soon after, Elon Musk and others began to call for an AI Governance body. While the capabilities of the technology are unnerving, its potential for unlocking value of companies’ largely unstructured data is limitless. The Real Estate industry, a market full of large data sets, has been slow to adopt Machine Learning. Tenants, workforces, leases, assets, portfolios as well as markets could all gain a higher level of efficiency with AI. This compelling session will focus on real-life AI case studies as well as emerging opportunities.

REcalibrating Global Benchmarks – A Look into CHINA'S TECHNOLOGY REVOLUTION
Date: 6/13/2019    Time: 4:45 pm - 5:45 pm    Location: Nashville Music City Center
Not that long ago, China was quietly emerging from the Cultural Revolution. Their achievements include construction, economic, technological, military and expanded global influence. With respect to technology, they have developed countrywide systems for e-commerce/retail, communications, surveillance and social behavior scoring that could easily be five to seven years ahead of the rest of the world. This high-level session will provide examples of China’s technological prowess and leave time for a debate as to what it means for the world.

Date: 6/14/2019    Time: 11:15 am - 11:45 am    Location: Nashville Music City Center
The conversation on Robots in buildings has been growing over the last four to five years. Early adopters relegated robots to industrial and maintenance applications. While the built environment hasn’t been at the forefront of this technology, we’re seeing increased adoption. Concierge services and marketing are making their debut with Robots (such as Pepper), while other companies are focusing on repetitive manual tasks such as security, exterior maintenance, construction, autonomous delivery, logistics, and floor and window cleaning. This session will present a summary of the ‘State of Robots’ across all industries and will then focus on the case studies being developed by the most innovative thought leaders in Commercial and Corporate Real Estate.

From Applications to Integration – Assessing the VOICE ASSISTANT'S Role in Real Estate
Date: 6/14/2019    Time: 1:15 pm - 2:15 pm    Location: Nashville Music City Center
There are millions of requests each day that involve a specific data set or function within a building. Whether used to obtain financial information, lease statistics or simply to turn on the lights, voice assistants will become more commonplace in the future. Screen requests require a computer or other expensive equipment, while a voice assistant such as Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri can serve an easy to use, relatively inexpensive systems interface. That ease of use also brings up concerns on the backend, a complex mix of tight integrations, rules, cybersecurity concerns and other technical issues. This timely session will bring together the best minds in the Real Estate industry with experience in using automated voice assistants.

Leasing to Operations – Unpacking the Opportunities for AUGMENTED and MIXED REALITY
Date: 6/14/2019    Time: 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm    Location: Nashville Music City Center
It is easy to understand the potential for virtual and augmented reality in the built environment. For leasing, strap on goggles and see an unfinished space with a modern furniture configuration; for maintenance people, use the headset to bring in an expert while repairing complex equipment. These are just a couple of the ways in which AR/MR can be used to transform our industry. However, AR/MR applications in Real Estate have yet to achieve full speed. Actualization is not a question of if, but when—and this panel of industry AR/MR domain experts will provide a solid level set regarding the opportunities within Real Estate.

Date: 6/13/2019    Time: 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm    Location: Nashville Music City Center
With the enormous amount of capital invested in Proptech, there have not been a significant number of notable exits or rising stars. One group with the most significant (yet underreported) activity has been existing Real Estate Solution Providers such as Yardi, MRI, RealPage, CoStar and others. They have been making investments at a record pace to expand their product offerings, modernize technology stacks, and leverage the work of smaller companies. With existing customers, profitable operations and years of experience, these solution providers are well-placed to advance their market position. Anyone interested in hearing from industry leaders on their CREtech strategies will not want to miss this session.

With over 3,500 companies to evaluate, just imagine how long it would take to thoroughly understand every solution. At simply an hour per company, which would be considered a light evaluation, it would require almost two years for one person to assess the CREtech solution landscape. To bring order to this chaos, some progressive and forward-thinking organizations put together structured plans and procedures to create a process for identifying and adopting innovative technologies. Establishing leadership, creating a budget and developing a cross-functional team are just some of the facets of standardizing the innovation process. For those responsible for digital transformation within their organization, the insight from these industry leaders will be invaluable.

Date: 6/13/2019    Time: 11:30 am - 12:30 pm    Location: Nashville Music City Center
There has always been a great deal of data generated within a Real Estate organization. Organizations are now challenged with organizing, normalizing, integrating and analyzing large amounts of data in order to enable the business to make better tactical and strategic decisions. To align with this challenge, companies must now develop comprehensive enterprise data strategies to ensure all data-related processes, from data architecture and model to ongoing governance, are taken into consideration. Building a Modern DATA SCIENCE TEAM – Where Does Your Company Stand?
Date: 6/13/2019    Time: 3:15 pm - 4:15 pm    Location: Nashville Music City Center
Real Estate companies have had data analysts for a long time. These are the folks responsible for organizing and sifting through data looking for important issues, patterns and trends. While much of the work has been done on spreadsheet-type tools, the team members—while often fairly knowledgeable about Commercial Real Estate—rarely have the technical skills of what people are now calling a Data Scientist. Understanding new, very sophisticated technical tools, learning how to analyze ever-growing and complex data sets, knowing when to bring in outside data sources—and continuing to ask business questions (whether they seem relevant or not) are just some of the issues to be addressed. Where does your company stand on the topic of data science?

Date: 6/13/2019    Time: 4:45 pm - 5:45 pm    Location: Nashville Music City Center
The goal of leveraging the data found within a Real Estate organization for valuable insights is not new. It was named different things over the years including analytics and business intelligence. Now, with the introduction of AI and Machine Learning, it is called data science. While the technology has evolved from spreadsheets to more complex platforms, the goals have not changed: provide actionable insights that result in measurable business success. Whether the data predicts a market collapse, helps improve hiring practices, suggests a shift in product demand, improves the supply chain, or simply provides insights into asset or portfolio performance, the correct information could be worth millions. This valuable session will highlight case studies of Real Estate Companies who have discovered how to leverage data.

External REAL ESTATE INFORMATION Sources – Understanding the Landscape
Date: 6/14/2019    Time: 10:30 am - 11:30 am    Location: Nashville Music City Center
The amount of external data associated with Commercial Real Estate is voluminous. Asset, market, lease and sale transactions, mortgage lending, ownership, property physical characteristics and title chain are just some of the data points which need to be collected and organized. While data collection has been an integral part of our industry for a long time, emerging technologies and new companies are taking the conversation to the next level. Accelerated data collection, normalization algorithms and unique property identification strategies are some of the techniques being utilized. Leaders in Commercial Real Estate information sourcing will discuss their data platforms, market coverage and technology capabilities, as well as additional topics such as client system integration and API strategies.

BUSINESS PROCESS Rethink – Squeezing the Air Out of Traditional Workflows
Date: 6/13/2019    Time: 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm    Location: Nashville Music City Center
Raw components of business processes can be found in file cabinets, forms, emails, software platforms, spreadsheets, documents and a wide variety of other forms of communications. While most companies are forced to rethink a process as they consider a new automation solution, it is a rare occasion that a strategic end-to-end overhaul is completed. It is important to look not only at the steps within a micro process, but also all the processes as they relate to each other. This macro perspective will result in maximum efficiency and in some cases eliminate outdated methods. This important session will focus on effective strategies for designing a comprehensive business process evaluation.

Sophisticated RPA platforms allow for custom programming of data capture, application access, data input, and a host of other rules and instructions. This session will review the various platforms available in the market, identify the Real Estate processes fit for RPA and review best practice case studies.

Locate a city, zero in on a building, check for available desks, hit submit and you’re ready to work. The process is becoming so seamless that some compare it to Uber. Additionally, functions that automate the amenity booking process, as well as safety and security are all making their way into the digital strategy. Finally, billing and expense tracking for this new type of short-term lease are prompting everyone to rethink the traditional leasing process. Anyone involved in flex space automation issues will not want to miss this session.

GDPR, CCPA and More – A Connected World Accelerates the PRIVACY Discussion
Date: 6/13/2019    Time: 11:30 am - 12:30 pm    Location: Nashville Music City Center
As the world continues to embrace the idea of smart, intelligent, high-performance buildings, this concept of hyper-connectivity is a double-edged sword. While IoT promises all the benefits of energy savings, operational efficiency, enhanced occupant experience and financial optimization, it comes with the consequence of privacy infringement. GDPR in Europe and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) have real implications for ways building owners and operators will need to manage the data from their building systems. Every camera, microphone and sensor now has the potential to be hacked, creating an environment of overreaching surveillance. When that happens, how will employees and shareholders react? What privacy rights are at stake? Who is liable? Which laws have jurisdiction? All these topics are up for discussion in this crucial session.

Cybersecurity BOOT CAMP – The Steps to Developing a Comprehensive Cyber Program
Date: 6/14/2019    Time: 1:15 pm - 2:15 pm    Location: Nashville Music City Center
For those just now being introduced to the concept of smart, connected buildings, the topic of building cybersecurity may also be new. The dilemma of a building being hacked and business disrupted is a growing concern in the Real Estate community. One of the biggest misconceptions is that only the newest buildings are at risk and that older building automation systems are less likely to be breached. Nothing could be further from the truth. Whether it is an old, hidden DSL modem, or just the overall lack of sound, secure password protocols, the risks are real. This Cybersecurity Bootcamp will be taught by the industry’s most experienced and forward-thinking smart building cybersecurity professionals. Anyone in the beginning stages of attempting to digitally secure a building will not want to miss this terrific session.

Cybersecurity is one of the most important topics found within the world of Information technology (IT) and the Commercial Real Estate industry is no exception. Threats to our data, systems, organizations as well as the building infrastructure are forcing the Real Estate industry to up their investment in Cybersecurity. Over the last few years, we have seen a number of organizations add the title of Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to their roster. This person is the contact for everything Cybersecurity. While not every organization has the luxury of being able to hire a CISO, it is critical to have some type of comprehensive cyber strategy. This session will bring together the industries top CISOs to share their experience on the topic.

INNOVATION PROGRAMS – Creating Agile Organizations Equipped to Manage the Pace of Technology
Date: 6/13/2019    Time: 11:30 am - 12:30 pm    Location: Nashville Music City Center
In an attempt to stay relevant in the ever-changing real estate industry, corporate innovation programs are finding their way into the digital transformation fabric of commercial real estate. Beyond hiring a chief digital, transformation or innovation officer solely responsible for driving digital disruption within their organizations, other internal approaches have proven to be very effective. While some companies established cross-departmental teams to foster new ideas, others merely changed the name of existing committees—or turned over the leadership of a previously IT-driven task force to someone on the business side. This extensive session will present organizations who have implemented various innovation programs to discuss their successes and challenges.

From Hype to Reality – DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION and Commercial Real Estate
Date: 6/13/2019    Time: 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm    Location: Nashville Music City Center
Digital transformation is a phrase that has become over used. While many are quick to extol the virtues of DT, there remains some confusion as to what it actually means. Is it simply taking the filing cabinets and re-engineering the processes within into digitized, automated sequences? Or does it have more far-reaching implications? With the advent of mobile technologies and the cloud, it becomes easier to engage employees, tenants, suppliers and everyone involved in the Real Estate ecosystem. In some cases, this transformation calls for a total rethink of business goals and objectives. This enlightening session will focus on the definition of digital transformation and examples of those leading the way.

ENTERPRISE ARCHITECTURE – Creating the Digital Infrastructure for Organizational Convergence
Date: 6/13/2019    Time: 3:15 pm - 4:15 pm    Location: Nashville Music City Center
Automation in the Real Estate industry started with the back office. Property management and accounting functionality were some of the first applications to be addressed. Then came budget and forecasting, valuation, lease process automation, internal company communications, CRMs, websites, marketing, analytics and more. We then moved to connecting the building and all of its components and are now touching the tenants with mobile experience applications. All of these must now positively impact corporate performance in measurable ways. In a few short years, the entire commercial real estate information ecosystem has expanded and is looking to be integrated. This vital session will gather the best and brightest to discuss what a state-of-the-art Enterprise Architecture Strategy looks like.
