Networking Breakfast Workshop: Digital Leadership in Investment Management
We’ve been discussing digital transformation opportunities for the past couple of years. Given the latest product introductions in our market, what must the Investment Management Digital Leader bring to the table to effectively influence their company’s business processes. The numerous successes with integrating silo’d applications, consolidating disparate data sources, financial modeling, and the intuitive user interfaces will convince any senior executive that they cannot afford to wait any longer! This session begins with an interactive networking breakfast with your industry peers followed immediately by a workshop that will focus on evaluating integration solution options and their barriers toward implementation.

ROBOTIC PROCESS AUTOMATION (RPA) - Understanding the Opportunities & Challenges
Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is simple, yet elegant technology that uses AI and machine learning to automate repetitive tasks previously done by humans. In the Commercial Real Estate industry, we have a large number of systems with overlapping information that often requires moving data from one spreadsheet or application to another. Receivables, payables, leases, investor reporting as well as other tenant communications all share information at some point in the process. With perfect seamless integration not always an option, outsourcing these tasks to an RPA ‘intelligent assistant’ has proven to be valuable in streamlining processes. The speakers in this session will highlight practical uses of RPA and present case studies on their efficient and effective use.

ROBOTS – Are They A Reliable, Effective & Acceptable Service Option in Our Buildings?
When most people think about robots, they either think of science fiction movies or Tesla’s assembly line. While many believe that robots in our buildings are far off in the future, we forget that there are millions of robots vacuuming households as we speak. Today, there are robots delivering items to guest rooms at hotels and robots deployed as security guards in malls. There are many potential applications for robots in buildings and those options are increasing every day. Security, construction, delivery services (autonomous delivery carts), customer service (concierge bots), and cleaning/maintenance are just a few of the applications being automated. This session will present a summary of the ‘State of Robots’ across all industries, and will then focus on the case studies being developed by the most innovative thought leaders in Commercial and Corporate Real Estate.

IT SKILLS SHORTAGE – Strategies for Maintaining a Strong Team
The industry has acknowledged the impending skills gap, yet despite years of discussion, progress has been limited. As the tech requirements for running real estate assets get more complex, including smart buildings and workspaces, they require an increase in professionals with specific technology skills. The problem started with a decline in high school STEM programs, resulting in a shortage of college graduates with science, technology or engineering skills. In addition, the real estate industry struggles to compete with other high paying industries such as tech, finance, medical and others for these candidates. This shortage could ultimately slow the adoption of new ideas in our industry. This crucial session will focus on strategies to find, train and retain capable technology talent.

OCCUPANT & GUEST EXPERIENCE PLATFORMS – Aligning Brick and Mortar with Enhanced Digital Experiences
Not long ago a tenant or visitor walked into a building, went to work, did some shopping, waited for a plane, or engaged in some other form of life activity. Today, because of mobile phones and other technologies, building occupants are learning to expect some form of experience that will enhance the time they spend inside. Easy, efficient access, video monitoring in parking garages, ordering coffee, turning on the lights, turning down the heat, reporting a leaky faucet, scheduling a yoga class, scheduling a baby sitter, connecting socially with other tenants (and much more) has become the expectation. Building owners are now racing to integrate all the capabilities of mobile technologies, the cloud and other platforms to the needs and requirements of building occupants. Vetting platforms, prioritizing features, system integration and cyber requirements are just some of the issues to be discussed.

LEASING, ASSET MANAGEMENT & MORE – The Leasing Ecosystem Goes Deeper & Wider
Leases are the lifeblood of commercial real estate. Managing the entire prospect-to-lease lifecycle has been a critical process in need of automation. Many firms have developed in-house systems that integrate with other automated solutions to take care of their specific needs. In many cases, CRMs were employed as the base technology for the lease process; in recent years, we have seen the rise of ‘market’ systems which provide the specific asset or portfolio information while also integrating with market activity. As these systems mature and go deeper and wider into the real estate information ecosystem, their functionality grows and changes. There is no more important process than getting prospects turned into tenants and managing the assets they reside in. This enlightening session will continue the dialogue on automating the lease process as well as the expanding role of these critical systems.

Ready, Set, GDPR – What Does it Mean?
On May 25th, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) became enforceable, and all organizations doing business with European Union data subjects must be in compliance. This new law will hold all organizations that collect, hold or process data of individuals located inside the EU to a much higher standard and will place a reasonable amount of control of that data in the hands of the data subject. Failure to properly prepare for GDPR could mean heavy fines as well as damage to customer relationships and brand. While this will affect only organizations that hold the data of individuals within the EU, some are speculating that GDPR type regulation will make its way to the United States and around the world. Given the most recent privacy issues related to Facebook and Cambridge Analytica, this is a very timely topic. This session will address the realities of GDPR and the issues surrounding data protection and privacy.
