Arv Gupta is an accomplished operations executive with over 25 years of experience in leading business renewal, and building sustainable customer value propositions with a number of major retail organizations. Arv is currently responsible for driving national operational efficiency and effectiveness, while maintaining a standard of excellence in customer experience across all Cadillac Fairview properties.
Steve Lefkowitz is a results-driven and profit-minded executive in the national corporate real estate world with the proven ability to effectively manage large-scale real estate portfolios. He is a 35-year veteran of Time Warner where he has held multiple titles including SVP of CRE for HBO. As the current head of Global Facilities Management for Time Warner he oversees FM operations and directs a center of excellence organization supporting delivery of hard and soft services across their diversified global portfolio of properties.
Darrell Smith has more than 20 years of experience in facility management, with a wide range of industry experience in technology, retail, data centers and manufacturing. He is currently the director of Central Services for Google's Bay Area Portfolio where he oversees a team who is responsible for the facility management, critical environments, planning and other facilities services at one of the most innovative companies in the world. Having spent his career at the intersection of real estate, big data and technology, Darrell believes in using technology as an enabler for progress and optimization.

Stephen Adams had over twenty years’ experience in the management of A Class office buildings and Regional Shopping Centers. Currently he is overseeing the migration of a 500,000-sf office complex in downtown Toronto from a multi-tenant format to a single user headquarters. A key component of this program is the introduction of an integrated Smart Building environment. The key outcome is for integrated base building systems and data analytics driving tenant comfort efficiency and reducing operational risk.
Kevin Bates is the owner of Sharp Development company. Over the past six years, he has concentrated on retrofitting older generation concrete tilt-up buildings that are carbon neutral, have a net zero energy bill as well as a strong emphasis on the health and wellness of the interior environment for the occupants. The driver for Kevin is to demonstrate that this way of repurposing existing building stock can be done in a manner that is more profitable for the ownership than the less expensive way of building to meet minimum code.
As VP, Energy Management, Rich oversees enterprise-wide energy management initiatives for the diversified 110 MSF Irvine Company real estate portfolio including utility account management, energy procurement, metering, Energy Star benchmarking, demand response and new energy technologies. Prior to joining Irvine Company in 2006, he held positions in facilities management and engineering in semiconductor and aerospace manufacturing. He holds a BSME from Santa Clara University, a MSME from CSU-Long Beach and is a California Professional Engineer.
Dave Clute has been AEC/FM/IT Design Professional for over 35 years. He spent 10 years at Cisco Systems and 5 years at Zurich Insurance before he joined ESD in 2017. Dave is currently leading the Intelligent Building Practice for ESD Global.
Daniel Cocosa has 32 years' experience in Communication Infrastructure. For the last 10, he has been the Regional Facility Manager at Google's Northern California Portfolio where he is responsible for developing strategies and systems that support over 5.5 million SF office space and growing R&D, along with the organization's Networked Fire Systems that connects 95 buildings. These systems were built from the ground up using state-of-the-art technologies and often converging systems. Dan has been instrumental in providing staff the high tech tools to support their ongoing maintenance practices for monitoring power; gas; water; 10,000 panel solar arrays; fuel cells and geothermal plant.
Traci Doane joined JLL in 2016 as the President of Technology Solutions and is responsible for defining strategic direction, overall financial operations and business development performance. She has more than 26 years’ experience in workplace management services and technology solutions for CRE and FM.
Joydeep Ganguly is currently the VP of Corporate Engineering, Facilities and Operations at Gilead Sciences, where he is responsible for designing and executing its engineering, facilities and Infrastructure strategy. Passionate about engineering sciences and advanced analytics in the industry, Joydeep has been published in this space in numerous journals and holds multiple patents in the area of bioprocess optimization.
David Giddings currently directs Oxford's National Operating & Technical services initiatives aimed at enhancing site delivery of service excellence, best operating practices and enhancing returns for our its stakeholders. He leads a team of individuals that deliver programs leveraging Oxfords scale to address efficiency, expertise and governance. David is presently heading the company's effort to develop a National Standard for Smart Buildings, which includes a single converged network utilized by all base building systems.
John Gilbert is the EVP, COO and CTO of Rudin Management Company, which owns and operates 15 million feet of commercial and residential space within the City of New York. John is Chairman of the New York Building Congress Energy Committee and has served on several of Mayor Bloomberg's Advisory Committees, including the Mayor's Energy Policy and Sustainability Task Force, and the Advisory Committee for Broadband Deployment. John also is a member of the New York City Green Codes Task Force: Industry Advisory Committee, Green Light New York, New York City Investment Fund's Cleantech Sector Group and the Mayor's Clean Heat Advisory Task Force. He is a Board Member of both the Grand Central Partnership and Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) and a Trustee of the New York Hall of Science.
Marc Gittleman oversees 3rd Party Services throughout Rising's 3+ million sq. ft commercial real estate portfolio, business development of integrated verticals, and Rising's energy, sustainability and technology initiatives. Marc has also participated as a GP investor in over $600M of transactions. Marc is also CEO & Co-Founder of 5x5 Telecom, a fiber optic ISP and smart-building platform located in Los Angeles. He is a noted expert in real estate innovation.
Noah Goldstein, PhD, LEED AP, is research director within Navigant Research's Custom Research group, with a focus on cleantech and building technologies innovation in the market. He focuses on strategic engagement in topics of energy efficiency, building energy management, and applied sustainability. As the director of building research, Noah led research on Zero Energy Buildings, Energy Management Systems in Commercial Buildings, and corporate strategy. Previously, he was a scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he led research on energy systems informatics and energy efficiency as well as led sustainability compliance for the DOE site.
Eric Gray is currently the Director of Engineering at Cousins Properties. He oversees the operations and engineering staff for over 15 million rentable SF of Class A+ office buildings in the sunbelt states. Responsibilities include: providing technical expertise in building efficient operation, establishing and monitoring standards of excellence, major project review and other support to enhance the engineering staff. Eric has been with the company for 27 years.
John Hess is Executive Director of Engineering for Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVSC). He is involved in specifying engineering design and optimization of building infrastructure of LVSC’s over 50 million SF of integrated resorts worldwide. A particular focus is high performance DDC control systems to minimize utility consumption and cost, achieve aggressive sustainability performance targets, maximize occupant comfort and minimize maintenance burden on facilities’ technicians.
Mike Hess, PE, LEED Fellow, leads Panasonic’s Smart & Sustainable Buildings team, and also supports their CityNOW initiatives for smart and sustainable cities. He provides up front sustainability, energy and technology consulting for Panasonic’s smart city projects, including analysis of utilizing autonomous shuttles.
Jason Houck has over fourteen years of experience implementing and servicing Building Automation and Security Systems. His responsibilities include project management, programming, network design, and verification of building systems for both retrofit and new construction projects. This includes system design, operating improvements, and system integration by utilizing application specific technology. His system experience combined and building knowledge is a championship combination in today's smart building industry. Jason also has an extensive IT background which allows him to fully appreciate the importance of a properly designed network. He has the unique ability to take all of his system, building and IT knowledge and effectively communicate any potential issues, favorable solutions, or operating recommendations to any member of the task regardless of their industry background. This effective communication allows him to bridge the communication gap between members within IT, Project Management, Financial, Maintenance and Service.
Jeff Houpt is a serial entrepreneur with 25 years experience in highly demanding engineering environments. Jeff’s experience runs from critical facility operations to design engineering. His background as an operator, owner, engineer, and finally as an integrator helps him understand the needs of the customer at every stage of a project. Under his leadership, AI has emerged as the leading Master Systems Integrator in the US.
As VP, Strategy & Innovation, Rick Huijbregts oversees strategic planning and partnership development to ensure George Brown College remains well positioned to evolve and adapt for the digital and rapidly changing future.
David Kaned has been designing buildings in North America and Europe for over three decades. His breakthough IDeAs Z Squared building was the first net zero energy commercial office in the United States and he has led the electrical design for dozens of Net Zero Energy, LEED Platinum, AIA COTE Top 10, and Well Certified buildings. He is a Professional Engineer, a Fellow in the AIA and a LEED Fellow.
Lachlan MacQuarrie oversees the service side of Oxford’s operations platform across 5 asset classes in Canada including Smart & Connected, and Cyber Security. He has more than 20 years of experience in the real estate industry, primarily in Asset / Operations Mgmt, Development and Investments.
Focused on providing IoT solutions in the areas of Space Utilization, Facilities Operations, Utilities Management and Occupant Experience.
Charles Matta, FAIA is Deputy Associate CIO and Director for Planning, Strategy, and Programs in the Public Buildings Information Technology Services at GSA. He is the former National Director for Federal Buildings and Modernizations in GSA's Office of Design and Construction Programs. Between 2005 and 2009, he oversaw a program consisting of approximately 120 buildings nationwide in various stages of planning, design and construction with a value exceeding $5 billion. He has represented GSA on Design Excellence Peer Reviews and AE Selection Panels for Federal facilities and has served as the agency's lead on key initiatives including ‘Total Building Commissioning', AIA Continuing Education, and BIM (Building Information Modeling) – a ground-breaking program that garnered numerous federal and corporate awards.
Ted Maulucci is the President of SmartONE Solutions, a company committed to advancing the digital living experience in communities. He assumed the role of President at SmartONE after a 26 year career as the Chief Information Officer of a leading Toronto based multi-family real estate developer. He was recognized as the Private Sector Canadian CIO of the Year in 2016 for his achievements in connected buildings.
Paul Maximuk is Energy Manager for Ford Land Energy where he is currently is providing project and program technical guidance to implement global metering of electric, natural gas, steam, water and compressed air systems. He is an Energy Engineer with over 30 years of experience in the HVAC/BMS field. He is an SME specializing in building management and energy reduction. Paul has focused his efforts in large industrial facilities but also has equal expertise in Class A buildings. Additionally he is a problem solver finding the root cause of why mechanical systems do not operate at their peak efficiency.
Quinn Munton brings more than 15 years of experience to GPG Advisers in infrastructure engineering, energy management/ procurement, building automation engineering and operations management and consulting, with a significant amount of this experience concentrated on the Owner/REIT, Commercial Real Estate, Retail, Multi-Family and Hospitality sectors. Quinn's focus is on helping owner operators, corporate occupiers and multi-family portfolios improve their operations, solve technology problems and operate greener, with a focus on the bottom line.
David is the Sustainability Manager for Mirvac’s $9 billion investment portfolio. He leads a team of in-house sustainability professionals who are responsible for the delivery of Mirvac’s This Changes Everything sustainability strategy across the Office, Industrial and Retail portfolios.
John Petze, C.E.M., is a partner in SkyFoundry, the developers of SkySpark, an analytics platform for building, energy and equipment data. John has over 25 years of experience in building automation, energy management and M2M, having served in senior level positions for manufacturers of hardware and software products including: President & CEO of Tridium, VP Product Development for Andover Controls, and Global Director of Sales for Cisco Systems Smart and Connected Buildings.
Chip Pierpont manages and provides expert guidance on the development and execution of requirements/solutions for building operations and technologies for General Services Administration (GSA), a Public Buildings Service (PBS) government agency tasked with managing government buildings and real estate, providing product and service procurement support, and developing policies and regulations. The landlord for the civilian federal government, PBS owns or leases 8,700 assets, maintains an inventory of more than 370 million square feet of workspace for 1.1 million federal employees, and preserves more than 481 historic properties.
Perry S. Schonfeld is the Principal and COO for LBA and has over 37 years of experience in the financial and commercial real estate industries. Since joining LBA in 1997, he has evolved into overseeing the overall operations of the company and currently serves on LBA’s Investment Committee. Prior to joining LBA, Perry was an Associate Director for Cushman & Wakefield of California and handled both asset and property management services for the Southern California region.
Tom Shircliff is a co-founder and principle of Intelligent Buildings LLC, a nationally recognized smart real estate professional services company started in 2004. Intelligent Buildings provides planning and implementation of next generation strategy for new buildings, existing portfolios and urban communities. Tom is a speaker and collaborator with numerous universities and national laboratories, a gubernatorial appointee for energy strategy and policy and founding Chairman of Envision Charlotte, a Clinton Global Initiative. Previously he was in management roles in the real estate and technology sectors with BellSouth/AT&T, Broadriver Inc. and The Price Davis Company.
Ben is an architect who is compelled by his belief that architects are stewards of the built environment, with the power to enhance people's lives through the quality of design. Ben has served as a Director with Gensler since 2006, leading the design process for many of the firm's foremost projects, such as the 632-meter Shanghai Tower, The Tower at PNC Plaza, and the new headquarters for NVIDIA.
Tom Wirth is Facilities Operations Manager at Facebook. Prior to Facebook, Tom held senior facilities positions at Apple, Cisco Systems and Google. Tom has extensive background in the design and implementation of services, technology, and solutions in Facilities Operations and Services. Of interest to Tom is leveraging people, processes, and technology to deliver services that support the overall goals and objectives of global organizations and contribute to a positive employee experience.
Leighton Wolffe is the Co-Founder of NorthBridge Energy Partners LLC, an independent consulting organization with expertise and perspective on US energy markets and works with retail energy companies, institutional energy consumers, technologists and investors providing strategic business development, market research, and technology development services. Previously, he was VP Strategy for Constellation NewEnergy where he formed the NewEnergy Alliance, an industry association that advanced awareness between building owners, energy management and equipment manufacturers and systems integrators with emerging US Demand Response programs.
Leon Wurfel is Managing Director of BUENO. Previously, Leon worked as Engineering Consultant specialising in energy efficiency upgrades and tuning of existing buildings. The most notable project was leading a six-year program to reduce carbon emissions by 40% across a $20BN commercial and retail property portfolio. Moving on from the consulting world, Leon founded BUENO in partnership with Airmaster Australia with the aim of utilising current and emerging technologies to drive innovative sustainability and operations solutions.
