VIEW FROM THE TOP – Service Providers Weigh-In on Innovation
Perspective is a good thing; it allows you to see a broader picture. While most professionals in a corporation dealing with real estate technology initiatives have one perspective, their own company’s needs, global services providers who deal with corporate real estate automation requirements for a multitude of clients have a much wider and more holistic view. It is for this reason we are bringing together executive leadership from global service firms such as CBRE, Cushman & Wakefield, JLL and Colliers for a candid discussion on the status of Corporate Real Estate automation. Innovation, adoption, best practices, business drivers and organization realignment will be just a few of the topics discussed.

Technology and innovation are impacting every aspect of our daily lives, both personal and business. Further, we can expect major impetus coming from new technologies such as AI, autonomous vehicles, blockchain, immersive technologies and more. Change is hard in small organizations, much less attempting it at scale, and it requires vision, discipline, persistence and the ability to communicate and influence. Corporate Real Estate INFORMATION MANAGEMENT – A Challenged Landscape
Everyone agrees that “If you cannot measure it, you cannot manage it.” Corporate Real Estate assets represent one of the largest expenditures for a company, yet precise management remains elusive. Assets owned, leased, occupancy, utilization, relocation, operations and other business processes are much better served when organized in an information management system. Over the years we have seen various ideas, concepts and platforms for managing this massive amount of data: spreadsheets, IWMS, ERPs, data warehouses and now ‘data lakes’ represent some of the common information architectures. This session will take an aggressive and honest look at the status of Corporate Real Estate information management options and provide insight into developing a successful strategy.

IoT Enabled, SMART BUILDINGS & CAMPUSES – Developing a Comprehensive Strategy
First we implemented traditional building automation, then added broadband and converged systems, and now we have arrived at the smart, IoT enabled building and campus. While many organizations have looked at and applied some form of technology to building operations and maintenance, not many have embraced a comprehensive smart building strategy. This includes next generation building automation incorporating proven IoT solutions, energy efficiency, management platforms, enhanced occupant experiences, and true digital transformation of the workplace – all happening while preparing for developing technologies such as AI, autonomous vehicles, blockchain, and others. This segment will provide an update from those organizations who have developed and implemented a smart building and campus strategy, and sharing both their successes and challenges.

FASB Wake Up Call – Are You Ready?
As of January 1, 2019, all public companies must adopt the new FASB leasing standards. For non-public companies that date is January 1, 2020. Many companies will be materially affected by this change – failure to comply with the new leasing standards may result in sanctions by the Securities and Exchange Commission for noncompliance. In less than 90 days, companies must rethink and modify their existing lease processes which may require major changes or adding new technology platforms. Their lease data repositories will need to be in place by the end of September 2018 at the latest to test for compliance. To achieve this, both IT and corporate accounting will need to collaborate as technology decisions are planned and implemented, as well as workflows operationalized. In this informative session, we’ll focus on some of the major technology platform options available as well as the best strategies for implementation with minimal disruption to existing operations.

Smart & Well – Technology’s Role in HEALTHY BUILDINGS
For years, we’ve known that certain workplace behaviors impact our productivity and overall health. Sitting too long, breathing conditioned air, bad lighting, drinking questionable fountain water, noise levels, VOCs and more, all play into the wellness conversation. Recent research suggests that WELL, Fitwell and 9 Foundations certified buildings are becoming more commonplace for companies interested in new standards for good business. Occupants want to know that the place where they spend much of their time is looking out for their well-being. New technologies and concepts including tenant control over environment, multi-functioned Samba sensors, new ideas such as fitness programs and tele-medicine – all are topics that will be covered by this world-class smart building wellness panel.
