Realcomm Announces Annual Conference Theme & International Advisors
Carlsbad, Calif. – January 26, 2009 – Realcomm Conference Group, LLC, a global leader in providing education, information, and networking opportunities for the commercial real estate industry, will hold its annual conference on June 23 and 24, 2009, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Chicago. This premiere industry event attracts the best people in the commercial real estate industry to discuss the latest in technology and business. Conference programs are designed to meet the needs of all sectors and at all levels of commercial real estate.
This year’s conference theme is: “REboot” 2009: Turning Challenges into Opportunities. With the current sluggish economy and frozen credit markets, companies will need months (if not years) to “refresh,” and business plans might be more difficult to carry out. In the context of commercial real estate businesses, REboot means that we have to re-think and, in some cases, re-structure the way that we operate our businesses.
“At Realcomm, the message has always been: technology and automation lead to efficiency, effectiveness, productivity, innovation and transparency. These basic tenets will resonate at our annual conference,” said Jim Young, President and CEO of Realcomm. “Now, more than ever, we all have the opportunity to strengthen the strategic position of IT in commercial and corporate real estate firms and to elevate the strategic relevance of IT among executive leadership. The conference will equip attendees with creative and innovative strategies and solutions to do that.”
Realcomm’s International Advisory Council for 2009 will be co-chaired by forward-thinking industry leaders John McCormick, VP of IT at Brookfield Properties, and Joe Rich, CIO of Tishman Speyer. The Advisory Council is comprised of some of the most influential IT executives in real estate. Members of the Advisory Council work with the conference producers to develop the conference programs.
“In the current economic environment, we must justify every dollar that we spend. At Realcomm 2009, the best people, vendors and companies in the commercial real estate industry will show how they plan to emerge from this down cycle, leaner and stronger. Realcomm has always provided great opportunities to network with your peers,” said Rich. “This year will be no different as industry leaders discuss how they plan to innovate to help their companies. In addition, the sessions will provide practical ideas that you can put into practice right away. These opportunities provide real value for you and your company.“

“Since I've been in the Real Estate industry less than three years, I still feel like there's a lot more to learn. Realcomm’s conference provides excellent opportunities to learn from and to network with others from a wide range of companies and vendors. Additionally, Brookfield's IT team has gone through significant growth in the last two years, and only one of our new hires had any real estate experience. We send our people to the conference to expedite their immersion in the industry,” vouched McCormick. “I am really excited about the conference this year to continue my learning and networking, as well as sharing some of my experiences with others. This is especially important in this difficult economic climate when we all need to find new and creative ways to squeeze the maximum value out of every dollar.”
Realcomm 2009 will provide an opportunity for real estate industry leaders to discuss, analyze, and debate the latest technologies and innovations in commercial real estate. For more information or to register, go to www.realcomm.com/chicago.htm
