Microsoft Virtual Earth Changes the Landscape at Realcomm 2008
Realcomm announced today that Chris Sampson, Director of Worldwide Sales and Business Operations for the Microsoft Virtual Earth Platform, will participate as a keynote presenter in the opening General Session of Realcomm 2008, which will be held June 9-11, 2008 at the San Diego Convention Center.
Sampson will explore the new virtual frontier of digital globes and introduce Microsoft’s latest product, Virtual Earth, an interactive 3D world that is poised to reinvent views on aerial photography. The Virtual Earth platform team is part of the Microsoft Local Search product unit. In his current role, Sampson is responsible for sales and operations across North America and EMEA.
“Realcomm strives to provide cutting-edge and relevant education for our attendees. This year, we are excited to be partnering with Microsoft and to having Chris Sampson present this innovative solution,” said Jim Young, co-founder and CEO of Realcomm. “This year’s conference theme is to INvestigate, INitiate, INnovate and Virtual Earth exemplifies how we can leverage technology in our continually changing industry.”
While it will not ever completely replace the “site visit,” Virtual Earth will provide the industry an innovative way to inspect a property with an enhanced aerial experience. Much can be accomplished by this next generation of imagery with its immersive and real-life experience features from enhanced maps with hill-shading to allow users to understand surrounding terrain to various 3D elements that provide real-life perspective of the place or building.
