REALCOMM 2008: Education Track Overview

CONNECT – A Forum on Intelligent Buildings

Over the last 5 years, we have seen tremendous increase in the interest of “Intelligent Buildings” – so much that it has grown from a single session at Realcomm to it’s own track. This topic has entered mainstream conversations due to a number of converging factors: 1) the introduction of Internet Protocol (IP) as a standard, 2) the participation and development of new solutions by well-established global companies, 3) the integration of once disparate applications, 4) the push for higher operating efficiencies and profits in buildings, and 5) the rise in the awareness of both energy consumption and emissions. As buildings become smarter and more “connected,” the IT executives and their staff in real estate companies will become more and more involved in the selection, implementation, and support of intelligent building systems. This track will look at Intelligent Buildings from an IT, management, and operations perspective and provide insight into issues relating to this very important and growing trend.
